A CONVERSATION WITH THE FATHER
By Kentish James (Brighton Church of Christ, SVG)
Forgiving others I know I should,
But Lord I don't believe I could.
For they have run my patience thin,
But please forgive me of my sins.
You ask for forgiveness yet you wouldn't forgive.
Is that the way you ought to live?
Follow me fully and your days will be bright,
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
I lost my job, my car, my house,
And things aren't going too well with my spouse.
But you said in your word we will suffer for your sake,
So I am content for this suffering I must take.
As it relates to you work you failed the test
For we both know you didn't do your best
You lied and you cheated with much glee
So child really, your sufferings weren't because of me.
Father, I can't seem to get my children on the pathway straight,
But I will love them to follow me through heaven's gate.
I go to worship every Sunday for them to see,
So why can't I get them to follow me?
Though they are children they are very wise.
So maybe for two hours of worship it's you they don't recognize.
The smiles and the hugs, make you seem like an encouragement tree,
But for the rest of the week, is this the person that they see?
Father, can you imagine some people don't believe in you?
Even though your words are so true.
Some of them are my truest friends,
But I don't know enough to minister to them.
What's the reason for your hope in me?
What did I ask you to do for the world to see?
If you have not yet studied my words to give,
Show them Me, by the way you live.
Dear Father, why do you still call me your child,
When I haven't held Your banner high?
I know I haven't always done the right things,
But teach me Father how not to sin.
My child I love you even when you sin.
So just repent and in your heart let Me in.
You can live a life that is truly blessed.
So sin less until you become sinless.
