ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Jania Otey is a native of Clovis, California and lived in Washington, D.C. for 21 years. Jania grew up in the church and obeyed the gospel at an early age. She holds a B.A. degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctor degree from Howard University. She is admitted to practice law in Maryland and D.C. She counsels and works closely with churches of Christ, small business clients, and individuals, providing legal advice regarding personnel matters and general business organization. She has published articles in The Gospel Journal and always appreciates the opportunity to share God’s word. Jania and Melvin have two boys, Caleb James (age 11) and Christian Joseph (age 8) and they worship with the Dalraida church of Christ. Although Jania continues to practice law on a limited basis, she devotes most of her time to educating and shaping the hearts of her sons, being a wife, working in the church, and running Kids and Culture Camp, a summer enrichment program for children. Jania lives in Montgomery, Alabama and her biggest accomplishment in life has been introducing the gospel to her husband.
