KINGSTOWN CHURCH OF CHRIST |
|
On Sunday August 4th, 1968, Kingstown Church of Christ met for worship services at our present location in Kingstown Park for the first time. Though the congregation at that time was less than a dozen members, about 100 brethren from congregations throughout the island were also in attendance. Emotions ran high as many of them were meeting for the first time. Since the 1960s, and due to the God-given efforts of a number of faithful men and women (local and foreign), our congregation has grown.
Many faces have changed, and our growth came with a number of trials. However, we continue to struggle towards perfection for the Lord until He returns. Drawing inspiration from Paul's words in Philippians 3:12-14, we believe, "It's not that we have already reached this goal or have already become perfect. But we keep pursuing it, hoping somehow to embrace it just as we have been embraced by Christ Jesus. We do not consider ourselves to have embraced it. But this one thing we do: Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead." |
