By Cuthbert Cumberbatch (Mount Lily Church of Christ, NEVIS) Have you ever tried exercising after you had neglected to do so for a very long time? It is difficult, isn’t it? Your joints would ache and your body goes through a mental strain. But as you continue those stretches, twists, turns and limbering, the pain begins to cease and you feel more comfortable. |
Are you reminded of praying? When the child of God neglects to pray it gets more difficult with the passing of time. Let’s make prayer a part of our Christian living. Prayer is that means of communication with God. Prayer - one of the most powerful tools God has given to the Christian. By this means we can express the heart’s innermost.
Every Christian needs to use this blessed opportunity that God has given to speak to Him. Prayer is mentioned many times in the Bible. Therein the child of God is commanded to pray.
Have you been neglecting to pray? Do you find it difficult to pray? Jesus teaches that men ought always to pray and not to faint (Luke 18:1).
The child of God is exhorted to pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer is a substitute for worry. Paul says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” - Philippians 4:6. Listen to Peter, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (I Peter 5:7).
Brethren, let us strive together to please Him by improving our prayer life. “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” (I Peter 3:12).
When the child of God neglects to pray, it is like neglecting to exercise. It gets harder and more difficult. Remember, PRAYER CHANGES THINGS!
