On Thursday 9, April, an enthusiastic group from Kingstown Church of Christ boarded a bus to make the 33-mile round trip to Troumaca to support their brethren at a debate organized by the Spring Village Church of Christ. The debate was held on the penultimate day of a 6-night revival at Spring Village.

The proposition outlined for debate was "All ageable persons must be baptized in water before they become Christians or before they are saved by Jesus Christ under the New Covenant or the New Testament." On the proposing side were Albert Jack Gellizeau, evangelist at Spring Village Church of Christ and Rohan Hector, evangelist at Richland Park Church of Christ. Opposing the proposition were Mr. Alan Berry, Pastor at Barrouallie Tabernacle Baptist Church and Mr. Lindsey Colin Francis, Pastor at Spring Village Evangelical Church. Moderator of the debate was Joel H. Jack.

Shortly after 7PM, the moderator explained the rules of the debate and invited Elton Lewis, evangelist at Kingstown Church of Christ to ask God's guidance upon the evening's proceedings. Following the opening prayer, Gellizeau and Hector alternated in their presentations for a total of 20 minutes. Immediately after, Berry and Francis also presented their position within the allotted 20 minutes. A short break along with the singing of two choruses led by Jack proceeded the second session in which both sides were again given equal amounts of time to present their respective arguments.

After giving some closing remarks, Jack invited Noel Soleyn, a long-time member at Spring Village Church of Christ, to move the Vote-of-Thanks. All the speakers were thanked along with those who came out to support. In addition to Kingstown, brethren from Barrouallie, Retreat and Richland Park churches of Christ were also in attendance. Two gentlemen from the opposing side also accepted the invitation to attend. Following Soleyn's closing prayer, the session ended at about 8:50PM at which time light refreshments were served.

Thanks for providing the article, photos and audio from the debate. It is a pity that many folks from the opposing camp were not among the audience. It would have been a good opportunity for some to come to know the truth. May those who heard (or will hear) pay heed.
