By Nationwide Ladies Fellowship Committee (2015)
On Friday April 3rd, 2015 (commonly known as Good Friday), ladies journeyed from as far as Owia on the Windward side and Spring Village on the leeward side of the island to take part in the 2015 island wide ladies fellowship, held at the Kingstown Church of Christ building. The fellowship was a success as all the activities planned for the day materialized well. This event is expected to take place annually.
The attendance far exceeded expectations with 160 ladies attending, which was a great encouragement in itself. There were representations from all the congregations on the mainland. It must be noted that our imminent success could not have been possible without the financial contributions of the various congregations throughout St. Vincent. For that, we must express our gratitude and say, “Thank you!”

The theme for this year’s fellowship was ‘Godly Women in a Modern World’ with references from Proverbs 31:10-31 and Romans 12:1-2. There was one featured speaker in the morning: Colleen Thomas from the Biabou congregation. She did a wonderful job as she spoke on the theme ‘Godly Women in a Modern World’. She first presented a brief background on 19th century women in comparison to women today. Added to that, sister Colleen gave the social, technical and economic realities of women living in a modern world. The emphasis of her lesson was on the characteristics of godly women to which she concluded by saying that our values should not change inspite of living in a modern world.
There was an enlightening panel discussion on the sub topic ‘The influence of Social Media on Christianity’ with three lovely sisters from various congregations as the panellists: Elta Robertson (Biabou); Ronnel Rodney (Richland Park) and Nicolette Samuel (Kingstown). They gave definitions of social networking terms and elaborated on positives and negatives of social media. In the afternoon, we heard from another lovely sister: Grace Walters (Sandy Bay) but this time, she conducted a health discussion on issues that affect women. She highlighted the abnormalities of the breasts, genitals and uterus. Our talented sister, Giselle Millington (Kingstown) led us in the singing. Another dear sister, Coreen Browne (Spring Village) entertained the audience with a Bible quiz which was rather enlightening as the ladies responded to the questions in order to win tokens. The highlight of the afternoon was the honouring of sister Mc Coy from the Richland Park congregation. She is a 92 year old sister who has been faithfully serving the Lord for an extended period of time and has been instrumental in the beginning and growth of the Richland Park Church.
The interaction from the audience throughout the fellowship is to be commended because the ladies participated by asking questions and commenting. The feedback that we received was really encouraging, from all reports everyone had a wonderful time. It was indeed a great day!
