Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 PETER 5:5

By Donna Ince (Kingstown Church of Christ, SVG)
Humility is an important word though it is often misunderstood by many. Since it is one of the many traits that characterizes the attitude of a maturing Christian, it would to us well to take a letter-by-letter look at what “humility" is not, and what it is.

What Humility is NOT

Picture
Not being heavenly, not being hostile, not being haughty, not being hasty, not being harsh, not being hard, not being hateful, not being a headache, etc.
Picture
Not to under-estimate Satan’s power, not being unmannerly, not being ugly, not being unkind, not being ungrateful, not being unthankful, not being unpleasant, not being unreal, etc.
Picture
Not being a master of men, not being meek, not being mischievious, not being malicious, not having malice, not to mislead, not to mismanage, not to mishandle, etc.
Picture
Not being ignorant, not being/feeling inferior, not being indifferent, not being an infidel, not being indespensible, , etc.
Picture
Not being lazy, not being late, not being loud, not being a looser, not a liar, not a lucre, etc.
Picture
Not being incomplete in Christ.
Picture
Not being thankful , not to tell off anyone, not to tempt anyone, not being tended hearted, not being truthful.

Not to yield to evil.

What Humility IS

Picture
To be Heavenly, to be holy, to be honest, to be happy, to be healthy.
Picture
To be unique, to be united.
Picture
To model Christ, to be modest, to be meek, to be mentally sound, to be a mentor of Christ and so to others, to meditate on the word of God.
Picture
To be informed in/by the word of God, the inner man must love and keep the commandments of God.
Picture
To long for Heaven, to be a loyal child/servant of God and man, to live life out fully, to labour for the cause of Christ.
Picture
To be interested in the things of God and man.
Picture
To be taught the truth of God’s word, to be thankful to God for salvation and to live with Him in heaven.
Picture
To say yes to God always.
